Hi,
I have a single server Windows Server 2016 running on Azure (Session Host and License Server is the same). I have 2 questions:

  1. I see on Microsoft Store is product "Windows Server Remote Desktop Services CAL" without version name. Will it compatible with my server 2016?
  2. My company is in Czech Republic, my server is in West Europe Azure Location (Amsterdam - Netherlands), where should (must) I buy the RDS license on Czech Store or Netherlands Store or even USA Store? The prices are different for each store location.

Thanks for your help,

    Hi,

    1. Do you mean Windows Server Remote Desktop Services CAL? You can click "More" and it will show the version in 2019 server. Actually, all the Microsoft official RDS CAL you can purchase now is 2019 version. You can also purchase CAL from Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center.
You will need to downgrade the version to 2016 when you activate the licensing server. Choose Telephone method to activate and ask the engineer to downgrade the CALs. https://activate.microsoft.com/Help.aspx?locale=en-US 56894-image.png

    2. Per my knowledge, there is no difference between locations. But you can call Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center for consulting before you purchase CALs.

    Thanks,
    Eleven
