Is anyone aware if microsoft plan to upgrade the surface dock 2 to enable the user to control the charging of the surface pro 11? its great to only have the magnetic power adapter to click in, then the external displays activate via the dock. the issue is that the surface pro 11 is always charging. surely there is technology available to instruct the dock 2 to only charge when the battery gets to 25% and go back off at 100%

    Hi Adrian,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

The current functionality of the Surface Dock 2 does not include any built-in options for automatic charging management like the one you're describing.

However, the Surface Pro 11 does support smart charging, which helps protect the battery by preventing overcharging when the device is plugged in for extended periods. This feature is automatically enabled and helps maintain battery health. When smart charging is turned on, your battery discharges and limits its maximum charge to 80%.Smart charging on Surface - Microsoft Support
