    Hello Gandalf's father,

We suggest that you run the Power Troubleshooter:

    1. Click Start and type Troubleshooting in the search bar.
    2. Select Troubleshoot.
    3. Click Power.
    4. Click Run the troubleshooter.

You may also perform a clean boot. This starts Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. To perform a clean boot, please click on this link.

Feel free to post back if you have any concerns.

    Still no change.

The SurfaceBook is also getting hot very fast even if I'm just watching Youtube.

    Maybe I should return it?

    Hi gandalf's father,

Thank you for providing us an update. Have you tried checking the refresh rate on your Surface? Go to Settings > System > Display > Display adapter properties > Monitor tab > Screen refresh rate. Try applying a different refresh rate if another one is available and see if there will be changes when playing Fortnite.

Also, you mentioned that you have updated Windows. Did you do it through Windows Update? You can also try manually updating the drivers and firmware by downloading the files from here. After installing the udpates, perform a two-button reset so the new software will be loaded properly. Here's how to perform the suggested reboot method:

    1. Switch off your Surface.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button simultaneously for at least 15 seconds. It will enter the UEFI.  Wait until the screen goes off before releasing both buttons.
    3. Switch on your Surface normally.

Please update the post so I can check this further.

    Hi Gandalf's father,

Changing the power plan might help improve the FPS when playing the game. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

powercfg.cpl 3. In the Power Options window, under Select a power plan, choose High Performance.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
