Question

Security update failed while updating to wsus

The error code is as follows.

80244019
800F831

Window update attempt failed after removing temporary storage.

I received the patch below and tried to update after a manual installation, but some updates fail.

Not all of 2019 and 2020 have been installed.

Please guide me if there is a way to install it.

Or please check if I can get a standalone security patch in December 2020.

Hi,

Are you using Windows Server 2012? I noticed those update are for Windows server 2012 and Windows 8, so I add a tag Windows Server 2012 for your thread.

Does the issue occur on a specific device or multiple devices?

Make sure you have a good network connection as error 80244019 means HTTP_STATUS_NOT_FOUND.
Please turn off antivirus software and firewall temporarily to check again.

I noticed those update package contains some update which released several years ago, so it has been replaced by the latest one, we install the latest update package KB4598285 (Monthly Rollup, January 12, 2021 released) and KB4598297 (Security-only update, January 12, 2021released) is enough. Please try to check.

By the way, if you tried to install that update failed, please run "wmic qfe get" as administrator and paste the result here. Also please paste error code about installation here.

It would be useful if you could answer my questions in previous reply.

Would you profile command line "wmic qfe get" result and error message capture here?

Please also check if any error codes recorded in the Event Viewer(Windows Logs\Applications, Setup, System)?

We also could try the following general steps to troubleshoot, please feedback your action result of below.
• Run built-in windows troubleshooting tool:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\ System and Security\Fix problems with Windows Update\Advanced\Run as administrator:
• Run the command “sfc /scannow” with administrator right to check the health of system files.
• Disable firewall and antivirus temporarily.
• Reset Windows Update components
This script will completely reset the Windows Update client settings. It has been tested on Windows 7, 8, 10, and Windows Server 2012 R2.
