Surface Pro 2 stuck in boot loop. MS Support failed to help, so hopefully someone here can.

Hey all,

As the Pro 2 tends to do, a month or so ago it decided to randomly reboot while in normal use but instead got stuck into a boot loop to a black screen with the following options:

Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

Secure Boot Control

Install Default Secure Boot Keys

Delete All Secure Boot Keys

Exit Setup

Choosing exit, of course, just leads me right back here. Thankfully I backed up all of my files with Google, but this device is just over a year old and was only used for basic web browsing and word documents (for school). I tried contacting support and they emailed me copy/paste instructions for booting from USB (hold down volume, hit power, release down volume when "Surface" appears), but it just leads me to the same black screen anyway. Further, I can't contact support again without paying them $100, which is kind of ridiculous considering the problem was unresolved previously and nothing was suggested beyond what is already posted on the the site. Any ideas?

    Looks like you could be doing that with Volume Up.   Try pushing Volume Down "down"?

    By spending a few hours with an engineer friend testing a variety of things, we were able to confirm that MS Support did in fact provide incorrect fixes to the problem. The actual bottleneck is the SSD, or, I guess you could say- the $100 they require of me to contact them. I was pretty fond of the machine originally, but this will be the last time I recommend MS hardware if support services are going to be inept and exploitative.
