Code 19 on Camera driver

Hi

I got a code 19 error on the Microsoft generic driver that seems to control my USB microscope in my Surface Book. It's listed on Cameras on device manager and it appears with the exclamation sign. I tried everything: updating it automatically via web; finding alternatives on the web (neither of them were compatible); restarting (obviously); going thru the registry and deleting the upper and lower filters under the class folder (however they were no filters in the folder). What else can I do? There is no manufacturer web page where I can find drivers (it's a Learning Resources microscope and it's not listed anymore in their page) and although I have the original CD it does not content any driver: only a couple of software apps. Can anybody help me, please?

Hi ridom55,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Seems like the camera drivers are still corrupted after you upgraded it or after you uninstall/reinstall it. To further troubleshoot this issue, I'd like you to download this in-place upgrade. Downloading the tool will not delete the files nor the applications you already installed, this will just re-update your device to the latest drivers and repair those that are corrupted. Just click "Download Tool Now", hit Nextonce you see "Upgrade This PC".

If this helps, feel free to mark this post an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if you need further assistance.

Kind Regards,

Crest_Z

    Hello Crest

I received your answer, thx. But let me tell you that the situation has changed a little. Finally I got rid of the exclamation mark under the camera driver by going to the register/.../class, found the corresponding class to the camera and delete the filters. Now it appears as normal under device manager! However, it's still not recognized by the different apps related with the camera/microscope; either because of "incorrect parameters" or "used by another app", depending on the software. The only one that recognizes it is the software that comes with the Surface's cameras. Under this new circumstances, do I have to apply the solution you proposed anyway? Regards and thx again, Ricardo

    Hello Crest

Thx for the prompt answer. I tried to uninstall the way you told me; and I upgrade the software as well, but the problem persist, as you can see in the printscreen. Best, Ricardo

    Hi ridom55,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

This error can result if more than one service is defined for a device, there is a failure opening the service key, or the driver name cannot be obtained from the service key.

    Recommended Resolution

    Uninstall and reinstall the driver

    1. From Start, search for device manager and select Device Manager from the results.
    2. Right-click the device in the list.
    3. Select Uninstall from the menu that appears.
    4. After the device is uninstalled, choose Action on the menu bar.
    5. Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.

Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver.  If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s website.

Revert to the most recent successful registry configuration

To roll a system back to the most recent successful configuration of the registry, you can restart the computer in Safe Mode and select the Last Known Good Configuration option, or if you've created a system restore point, you can try restoring to it.
