Hi zacmct56
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
You seem to be having trouble with your Surface Laptop 3, which is not booting to Windows after an update. This could be due to an incomplete or improper installation of the update, or a corruption in the Windows operating system startup related to Kernel DMA protection.
We appreciate that you have already performed basic troubleshooting to resolve the issue, but the device still won’t boot to the Windows home screen. Let’s collaborate to find the best solution to this problem.
- Try booting your Surface Laptop 3 into Safe Mode. To do this, press and hold the Shift key while selecting Restart from the power options menu. Once your device restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. When your device restarts again, select Safe Mode from the list of options.
- If you're able to boot your device in Safe Mode, try to uninstall any recently installed drivers or updates. to do this go to control panel and select uninstall a program then select on view install updates. Then uninstall any new updates and new security updates.
- If you're not able to boot your device in Safe Mode, you can try to perform a System Restore. To do this, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your device to an earlier point in time.
- If none of the above step's work, you can try to perform a Reset or a Refresh of your device. To do this, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC or Refresh your PC. Note that this will erase all your personal files and settings, so make sure to back up your important data before proceeding.
- If you're still experiencing issues after trying these steps, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support live support team since we cannot reset the device using a recovery image since you don't have any other PC available.
We regret to inform you that processing replacement orders, checking the status of orders, and escalating cases are beyond our scope of support. We do not have the necessary tools to create or check orders. Only our live support team can assist you with this concern.
