Windows Server 2012 R2 Activation Problem

Hello
I have Windows Server 2019 with all core's activated Standart I guess with HP OEM Licence
On this server installed Hyper-V role with 2 servers WS2019 and WS 2012R2, which had activation problem
It says that he activated with notification
Notification: 0xC004FD04
Any one knows about this problem and what causes it?

As it is Standard WS2019 I guess AVMA keys won't help

That's correct. If a Server 2019 Standard host then only Server 2019 Standard guests can be activated using host product key. You'll need to come up with a valid product key to active 2012 instance.

Some general info.

• Each host needs to be licensed.
• A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server.
• Core licenses are sold in packs of two.
• Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed. For each additional 1 or 2 VMs, all the physical cores in the server must be licensed again.
• DataCenter Edition provides rights for unlimited Operating System Environments or Windows Servers containers with Hyper-V isolation when all physical cores in the server are licensed.
• AVMA keys can be used only when the host is DataCenter edition

Hi,

As Microsoft official article states Automatic virtual machine activation, we could activate Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2012 guest machine on Windows Server 2019 host machine.

So for troubleshooting the issue, please run command line "slmgr /dlv" as admin on host machine and upload capture here.

Check if any error message occur on guest machine in Event Viewer\Windows logs\application, setup, and system.

Please run "slmgr /ipk ###" as admin, please replace ## with your product key on host machine to activate again. If there is no product key sticker or COA on host machine, try to run "slgmr /ato" as admin. Ater that, please run "slmgr /ipk TNK62-RXVTB-4P47B-2D623-4GF74" as admin on guest machine to activate guest again to check.

Thank you for your reply.

I didn't found any official article about Windows Server host 2019 will only activate Windows Server 2019 guest. As I replied in previous reply, Windows Server 2012 should be available to activate as it's guest machine.

I noticed there is a similar article with you. Virtual machine activation issues on an OEM host

But if you prepare to buy a Windows Server 2012 product key, I will just keep monitor on this issue.
If you prepare to troubleshoot this issue without buy any product key, I would be here to assistance on this thread.
