Bing Maps Autosuggest API still functional after deprecation

Hello, I have question about Bing Autosuggest deprecation. In our application, we use the Bing Autosuggest API service for address searching, and we found that this API was supposed to be discontinued by June 30th, 2025. Due to this, we performed a migration to Azure Fuzzy Search, but our Bing Autosuggest API keys are still working. We use the free version of the API (Basic key) and don't pay anything for using the service. In the documentation, we found that the service should be shut down for Free/Basic users, but it's still working for us. So what's the situation with this API shutdown – has the discontinuation been postponed to a later date? Thanks

    Hello @Jarda Bohata

Bing AutoSuggest ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/bing/search-apis/bing-autosuggest/overview ) is different than Bing Maps AutoSuggest (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/rest-services/autosuggest).

If you have a Basic Bing Maps account, your account will likely stop working within the next week. We have over 1 Million free Basic Bing Maps accounts to shut down so that is being done in waves so likely yours has not yet been impacted. If you have a paid Bing Maps for Enterprise account, you can continue to use Bing Maps AutoSuggest until June 30, 2028. However, it is likely more cost effective to move to Azure Maps Fuzzy search.

    See https://blogs.bing.com/maps/2025-01/What-are-my-options-regarding-Bing-Maps-for-Enterprise-Retirement for more details.

    Sincerely,

    IoTGirl

    Hello Jarda Bohata,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

I understand your confusion regarding the deprecation of the Bing Autosuggest API. You've noticed that while the API was slated for discontinuation on June 30, 2025, your free/basic keys are still working.

According to Microsoft's Lifecycle Policy announcement, the Bing Search API will be retired on August 11, 2025. Any existing instances of the Bing Search API will be fully deprecated, and the product will no longer be available for use or new customer registrations. You can find this announcement here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/announcements/bing-search-api-retirement?source=recommendations

Given that you've already completed the migration, please continue using Azure Fuzzy Search in your application. This is a long-term, stable, and reliable solution. Even if the Bing Autosuggest API is temporarily available, you should immediately stop relying on it in your production environment. This will help prevent any future service interruptions from impacting your application.

If you'd like more detailed information about this situation, I recommend submitting a support ticket for further assistance (technical support is available for customers with a support plan): https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/create-ticket/

    Best wishes

    Hi Jarda Bohata,

Thank you for your patience and response. After looking at your original question again, I realized that my previous response may have misunderstood the product you were referring to. I apologize for the confusion. Another member, IoTGirl, appears to have provided a more accurate answer regarding the Bing Maps Auto-Suggest API and its status following its deprecation announcement.

    Best Regards
