BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD SLEEPING

Question

Hi.  I have a new Surface Studio 1.  I've noticed that the bluetooth keyboard that came with it goes to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity.  Consequently, the first couple of keystrokes are not recognised - very annoying!

Has anybody else encountered this problem and found a way to solve it?  Thank You

Hi.  Thank you for responding to my post.  I’ve annotated the answers to the questions below.   I hope that this can throw further light on the problem.

1. Is this working without any issues before? No it has always had the problem since I bought the new computer in December 2018.
2. When did this issue occur? As above
3. Have you made any changes on your device (e.g. settings or updates)? No, I have not made any changes to the settings and the only updates as the ones that have come through automatically from Microsoft.  However, my understanding is that the PC and keyboard were supposed to be paired in the factory.  The PC did not recognise the keyboard when I first turned it on and I had to go through a manual pairing process.
4. Does the backlight of your keyboard still lit? Unfortunately the Microsoft Surface keyboard that comes with the Surface Studio does not have a backlight.
5. Have you performed any troubleshooting steps? If *Yes,*what are they?

Here are the few things we suggest you do: 

1. Attempt to pair the keyboard again. Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & Other Devices. Select the keyboard. Select Remove. When asked if you want to remove the keyboard, choose *Yes.*I will try all of the following steps and report back on the outcome.  Thank you for suggesting them.

Here are the few things we suggest you do:

1. Attempt to pair the keyboard again. Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & Other Devices. Select the keyboard. Select Remove. When asked if you want to remove the keyboard, choose Yes.
2. Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. In the list of available troubleshooters, select Bluetooth. Follow on-screen instructions. The troubleshooter will tell you the result of the test. If resolved, attempt to pair the keyboard again. If no resolution, or is unable to resolve, go to the next step.
3. Install and Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit or **Windows Updates.**Check this article on how to run the toolkit. For Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If updates are available, install them. Make sure to restart the PC after installing updates if not prompted to do so.
