Subject: Feature Request: User-Controlled Retention Settings in Copilot

Dear Microsoft Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share a suggestion that I believe could significantly enhance the user experience for Copilot across all platforms, including the Android app.

Currently, it appears that retention settings for Copilot are managed at an organizational level through tools like Microsoft Purview, which are inaccessible to personal account users. I believe introducing user-controlled retention settings directly within the Copilot app would be a valuable addition.

This feature could allow users to:

  • Decide how much data Copilot remembers.
  • Set retention durations for interactions.
  • Manage or delete specific data directly from the app interface.

Such functionality would empower users, promote transparency, and align with the growing demand for data privacy and control. It would also make Copilot more accessible and user-friendly for personal account holders who do not have access to organizational tools.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I appreciate the effort your team puts into continuously improving Microsoft products and services.

Best regards,
Lex

Good day, thanks for your question. As of now, there is still no option like this because it might be needed to have a bigger cloud or storage capacity to cater users on a personal level that will take advantage of any retention even if a user will have control on it as this will still depend on the number of users that will dig into this. While this is a great idea, this definitely take time before something like this can be implemented as the aspects on the organizational level is different but you can send this through https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/ and hopefully this can become a thing in the near future.

    Regards,

    Paul R.
