Windows Update resulting in errors

Split from this thread.

Hi Salsamama,

Which Insider build are you on? Which update was Windows trying to install?

FYI I wouldn't use system restore on beta software too many bugs.

Have you got more than one SSD or HDD drive?

Hi Bryce, in my case, I do have more than one drive, an SSD and an HDD drive. The version and build I am on are 10.0.26100 and 26100, with a hardware abstraction layer of 10.0.261000.1. It is Windows 11 pro 24H2 x64.

I have two different desktop directories, one on each of my drives, C: on SDD and D: on HDD. Perhaps there was a screw-up that resulted in updates being sent to HDD instead of SDD which is where my OS should reside - I am not sure, just speculating. My SSD C drive Desktop directory is empty now and my HDD D drive desktop directory seems to have my files, when that was not the case before - it was the other way around. Is this a known bug with some insider updates that results in both Windows Update and Microsoft Store not working? Here is the link to the Windows update error log. Hi Daniel,

EDIT: I have moved this to your own thread as it is easy for everyone to follow.

That being said, can you tell me how your system was / is set up, is it dual boot? or is SSD having Windows installed on it and HDD just a spare drive.

Windows should always be C:/ drive. Did the HDD have Windows installed then you added the SSD?
