Code. Error: 0x80004005[gle=0x000000b7]

I'm trying to do a repair install with 21359.1 dev Insider ISO and am getting an error in SetupDiag: Code. Error: 0x80004005[gle=0x000000b7]

I have looked into this and found people saying it could be due to a dual boot scenario. I have the option of booting into 2 different Win 10 installs. One made by mistake years ago that doesn't work. I have no idea how to get rid of it. I do know how to ignore it. That's not getting rid of it tho.

    Wow!  lmfao

    1. Reset Windows Update: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/windows-update-resources
    2. Code 0x80004005 is specific to dual boot, provided you information how to remove dead system. Not good enough for you.
    3. Possible it could be bad ISO, it can happen, bad connection. Build 21359 came from the dump, the uup files came from MS. Get that straight, the ISO did not come from MS. The script can cause issues itself, especially run on a corrupt system.
    4. Plain simply rude comment, it was a suggestion, what your problem is with clean installing and getting over this is yours and yours alone. Build on build can cause issues eventually that get carried through on each update. With the limited information you provide, appears your system is already totally corrupted. Let's put the blame on others trying to help. Does over 30yrs experience in IT and system building good enough for you. Yep, no troubleshooting experience.

Good luck as it appears even reddit can't help you.

Wow I really don't think anyone here has any experience in the Insider build or troubleshooting. #1 can't download 21354 from the insider page. Oh it's there but you can't download it. "They are working on that." #2 the code is specific. I already half-guided you as to what it means. #3 the ISO came from Microsoft so it's not the ISO. #4 I already stated I am on the Dev channel as all of the builds we are talking about are dev versions.

Your car engine is knocking (a fixable problem if you know what you are looking for and what to do) you go to a mechanic and ask him to fix it. He says, "Oh, let's just rebuild the entire engine". That's exactly what "oh, just do a clean install" is. It's the exact same thing. Just say, "Sorry, I don't know how to fix that." or nothing at all. Don't you think anyone knows that a fresh install will pretty much fix any windows problem. Removing a bad install isn't that complicated IF you know what you are doing.

    Regards

Perhaps your ISO is at fault. You should be able to get rid of the dual boot scenario running msconfig, boot tab and remove the bad install. You should be able to safely delete the files where this bad installation is located. You would then have to remove the partition this install created. More trouble than its worth.

Suggest at this point, download the official ISO of 21354 from Insider Download page, create a bootable flash card and do a total custom clean install deleting all existing partitions and let windows create new partitions for your system.

Might be simpler for you to use MCT to create a bootable flash card of Release, clean install deleting any existing partitions and join Dev channel.
