My Windows 10 is on the latest. Update shows no updates available. Paint 3D allows me to open a JPG file, annotate it, then saves it as PNG. when I try and save it as JPEG, it says file type is not supported....

It looks as though your copy of Paint 3D is faulty. I've just tried using build 18312 and was able to create and save JPEGs. Could you check that you are on the same build, 18312?

One quick thing you could do is reset the program. Search for Apps and Features and press Return. Select Paint 3D and press Advanced then Reset.

Johnthepilot -  yes, good call.  My Paint3D must have been corrupted. After Reset it is working now. I even see some more menu items that were not there before !  thank you !

    hi,

well that is odd. I am on WI Build 18312 and I can Open, Annotate and Save files as JPG or PNG.

Even switch between them, so open JPG and save as PNG and vice versa.

So maybe there is some corruption in your file?

    /Stephan

Search the web and see the differences between the formats. PNG is lossless, JPEG is compressed.

It looks like JPEG is good for photos and PNG is good for all other things.
