I cannot leave Microsoft Insider Program

I am unable to leave the Windows insider program within my device's Windows Update>Windows Insider Program>Leaving the Insider Program> (Sign into Microsoft on Edge or Chrome) Leave the Program Now>Stop receiving Insider Preview builds.

  • This does not work for me, and in either situation ends up not refreshing any page, leaves a white dotted box around the blue button "Stop receiving Insider Preview builds"

Note: I have been signed up to the program for a matter of hours, did a fresh reinstall of Windows 11 and would like to make sure my system does not auto update to the newest Beta build. Now it appears I will be forced to even if I attempt to disenroll and I will have to install Windows 11 again to prevent this.
(I am the admin on my machine as well)

Additionally, I am unable to click off "Unenroll this device when the next version of Windows releases" - It is greyed out and is not an option for me.

Try deleting this Registry Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost

Then reboot your device and then check that

you are no longer in an Insider Channel.

Exactly! Was on a fresh, clean install of v23H2 - But at the time, I believe my account was associated with the Insider program, hence when I would "Check for Updates" on the fresh build, it would auto install the most recent Beta Insider version. Luckily the other reply appears to have resolved the issue, and I am no longer a part of the Program! Thank you for your reply as well as taking time out of your day to help a stranger! Will not forget it!

Which build / version you install?

If you are registered to insider program but you did clean install of v23H2 build 22631.xxxx then it doesn't get previews if you don't link it to insider program.
