Regarding Windows Insider Program

Out of the two channels- Beta and Release Preview- which one of these should I choose so that I come to preview the Windows 11 builds as well as keep my data safe (no options for alternative/remote desktops) ?
And though, Microsoft says the Beta to be more stable than Dev, will it be right to comprehend that selecting Beta channel will not lead to any data losses; or would I be able to preview the Windows 11 builds with the Release Preview channel as well (my current selection)?

If you are interested in trying W11 prior to the Oct 5th release, you would have to join Beta channel. This build will become release shortly. Beta is currently 22000.184

Dev channel has already moved on to a future build, which does carry a risk with version 22454 so the only way back to release is a total clean install for at least another year.

You could also download the Beta ISO from here, it most likely be the same when released and do an in-place upgrade to W11. It will run without joining Insider program. as we have been getting Cumulative Updates. Your choice.

As with any major upgrade, it is advisable to do an image backup of your system. I would also save any important files to an external device, flash card, etc. You should have some form of backup routine.

Well, it is of course machines, so data is never warranted, even on a stable build. Always take backups if it is important.

The point is, Beta channel Builds are more stable compared to Dev.
