RAM doesn't need to be in matched pairs. That's an old wives tale (myth) that just got perpetuated. It's helpful for getting the most out of dual channel and quad channel setups, but one channel with 32 and the other with 8 is still faster than one channel with 32.

Looks like you added a 8GB of RAM to your 32.
That may not be working correctly. You need matched
pairs.
