Favorite sync error with "bookmark_model_type_processor.cc:471, datatype error was encountered: Permanent bookmark entities missing" error

I am experiencing favorite sync error across every version of Microsft Edge

  • 91.0.864.11 (Android)
  • 77.0.3865.116 (Android)
  • 90.0.818.56 (Windows 10)
  • 92.0.878.0 (Windows 10)

The report from edge://sync-internals indicates error: OnInitialUpdateReceived@../../components/sync_bookmarks/bookmark_model_type_processor.cc:471, datatype error was encountered: Permanent bookmark entities missing in every version of the browser mentioned above.

I have logged out and reset the sync issue in all Windows 10 platforms, the issue remains.

I am not sure if this has to be fixed on the server side.  Is anyone experience the same issue?

They will review your feedback if they haven't already and investigate this.

    Thanks Eric.

Yes, I have done that long before your replies, but receive no reply from the engineers yet.

I recommend sending feedback from the browser so our engineers can investigate this.

    1. Click on the three dots menu button.
    2. Go to Help and feedback.
    3. Click on Send feedback.
    4. Fill out the form and then click on Send.

    Hi Eric,

Yes, whenever I reset the sync, all other Edge are logged out except the one where the reset button is clicked. Because the reset option is not available when it is logged out.

    Hi Khaicc,

When you did reset sync, did you also sign out of your Android devices?  If not, sign out on your Android devices and your Windows machines and then try Reset sync again.
