After updating to 108.0.1462.46 I did not observe issues anymore.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
After updating to macOS Ventura (13.0.0 and 13.0.1 tested), Edge started to crash (become unresponsive, spinning wheel).
I cannot reproduce the issue deterministically, but I observed it more often when using Outlook Web App and once so far when using Microsoft Word on the web.
My current version of Edge is 108.0.1462.41 (Official build) (x86_64).
I have switched to Chrome as a workaround and executed similar tasks without observing the same crash.

Good day Guilherme, thanks for your question. I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. This has been reported by others even when they are not on macOS Ventura and for this I would suggest to stick first with your workaround or try to downgrade and use a different version of Edge and download it from the link below and also submit a feedback via the browser as well.

I got the following reply from MS after reporting this as Feedback from Edge:
We appreciate your patience while we investigated your report to us. If you were running into an issue where your browser was hanging on your Mac device when an overlay from Outlook or Teams was active, there is a fix in place in Edge Stable channel version 108.0.1462.46 and in Edge Dev channel version 110.0.1543.0. Please either update the Stable channel of Edge you are using, or install the Dev channel from our Microsoft Edge Insider website and let us know if you continue to see the issue. If your issue is not directly related to Outlook or Teams on a Mac device, we encourage you to submit a new feedback item describing the issue you are still experiencing so that we can investigate further.
