Hi Everyone,
My computer updated AGAIN !!! last week and now I get bombarded with popups. Norton stops these but I want to know how to get rid of this from my computer.
If you look at the bottom, it does say Microsoft Edge.
Any ideas please?

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.
I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.
This problem could be caused by ads on one website that you are visiting, an extension installed on Edge, or a website push notification installed on Edge. Here are some procedures that you can use to identify what is causing this problem.
-Check if this notification is shown when you are using a specific website, if this happens only with a specific site this comes from the ads on the site.
-Disable the extensions on Edge
1-Open the Microsoft Edge
2- Type: edge://extensions/ in the address bar and press enter
3-Turn off all extensions and check if the problem is fixed
4-Then you will need to enable it one by one to identify which one is causing the problem and uninstall
-Check the Site permissions
/ Notifications
1-Open the Microsoft Edge
2-Click on menu (...) and select settings
3-Click on "Cookies and site permissions"
4-Scroll down and click on Notifications
Hey Cliff. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.
Change to Chrome in Settings > Apps > Default Apps and Edge should not change it back. You can also install a PDF Reader or set it to Chrome in Default Apps > Choose Default by file type > PDF.
Normally if you ignore Xbox it shouldn't bother you. I've never heard a peep from it and it's installed. But you can also uninstall it in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features if you want. You could always reinstall it from the Store if you change your mind.
Can I see a screenshot of these popups you say are from Edge even when it's not open? That's not really possible. Here's how to take a screenshot so I can see what you're seeing and attach using Insert Image button in reply box: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/o...
Is it possible this is the News & Interests widget on taskbar. See here how to turn it off: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/178178-how-...
There's no expert anywhere who recommends Norton except to Uninstall it. You're paying to bloat your PC.
I would uninstall any 3rd party antivirus in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features and try running only built-in Defender which gives adequate protection, best Windows performance, least issues, and is from Microsoft who knows how to protect their OS best.
After uninstalling run any special uninstaller tool for the antivirus provided here:
https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/an...
Restart the PC, then type Security in Start Search, open Windows Security, fix anything that's flagged. Report back any that cannot be fixed.
To make sure you're not infected now, and if you want the best on-demand scanner, download and install Malwarebytes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
In it's Settings > Security tab enable Scan for Rootkits.
Then on Scan tab choose Threat Scan and Run Scan.
Clean up anything found, restart PC and then run again until it comes up clean.
Then download, install and run a full scan with AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcle... Remove whatever it finds.
Check for any apps flagged by the scans or that you didn't install or want, in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features, and also in each of your browser's Extensions, Home Page settings, Search service or Add-On's as shown here: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001411.htm
Then check for damaged System files by running System File Checker from Step 10 in this checklist:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki....
If completing all of Step 10 in above Checklist doesn't fix it then run a Repair Install which reinstalls WIndows while keeping your files, programs and most settings in place, by installing the Media Creation Tool from this link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m..., open the tool and choose Upgrade This PC Now. This will solve most problems and also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method.
If you want to keep Malwarebytes as an on-demand scanner then you can turn off its Real Time trial version in it's Settings > Account Details tab.
Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary. I am standing by here to help you.

Thank you for the reply, but nothing is working. I dont use Edge, I only use Google Chrome. I want to stop all these Microsoft products from loading. I delete them and then a new update comeas and they are back.
For example - I dont want X-Box - I dont use it, I dont play it, I dont wont it.
This is the last Microsoft product I have. Its Apple next time.
Thank you anyway for trying to help.
Regards
Cliff
