How do I fix this double entry for Microsoft Edge Chrome.  They both open Microsoft Edge Chrome if any HTML is opened.   I want to remove the extra default app entry.

... this double entry for Microsoft Edge Chrome.

The blank icon is the old shortcut for the legacy version of Edge. Recent updates will have made sure that all attempts to launch legacy Edge will be redirected to the new Chromium version, which is why the two entries appear to be duplicates. The program files for legacy Edge will have been removed by this month's Windows Update (April 13, 2021—KB5001330 (OS Builds 19041.928 and 19042.928), and these lingering references to the old program will be removed in due course. Just try to ignore them.

It is not the legacy Edge entry.

Are you sure? It's not easy to prove (because of the redirection I mentioned), but try this:

    1. Press Windows key  + R to open a Run box. Type shell:appsfolder and press Enter.
    2. You should find the iconless entry for Microsoft Edge in the list. Right-click on it and select Create shortcut. Follow the prompt to place the shortcut on the desktop.
    3. Find the new shortcut on the desktop (Winkey + D), right-click on it and select Properties.

When I do this, this is the result:

That target is the path to the legacy  Edge installation. If you do the same with the  Edge entry in the apps list, you'll see that the target of its shortcut is simply MSEdge. Double-clicking on the shortcuts has the same effect.

There is still a bit of clearing up to be done to remove the last vestiges of the legacy program, and I suspect you're seeing one of them.

It is not the legacy Edge entry. That entry is no longer there. This is a different issue.

That does nothing.  I already tried changing the default.

    Hi Richard_Horan,

I'm Rodrigo, Independent Advisor and I will help you.`

Set another browser, like Firefox as default, then set Edge back, this may solve your issue.
