Managing bookmarks, browsing history, and downloads in Edge on Windows 10

Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I'm running Edge Version 90.0.818.49 (Official build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 (latest update). Sometime in the last update or so, downloads have change such that instead of download progress showing up on the bottom of the current window, it now shows up in a separate popup window. This is very annoying when downloading multiple files (to me anyway). Is there any way to restore the previous behavior and have the download progress display on the bottom?
Also, is there anyway to set up downloads to always assume I want to "save as" without prompting? This is annoying when trying to download many files at a time. I understand this is expected as I have "Ask me what to do with each download" enabled. I'd like to be able to disable this but have some other option to let me specify a download directory at the time of the download other than the default. This is the way Google Chrome and Firefox works.

Good day kenkahn! I am Independent Advisor Paul R. and also a Microsoft/Windows user like you and I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. I understand that you are having an issue with regards to MS Edge specifically with the download bar function/feature.
As this is with regards to the recent update, I would suggest is that you can also send a feedback to the team that is working on Edge and hopefully a fix or an option to enable this will be applied soon on the next update and you can provide a feedback from the browser itself by clicking on the 3 dots > Help and feedback > Send feedback.
Regards,
Paul R.
