Auto mute between tabs.....

I like Edge, but Chrome has an extension called "unMute".  I watch cable TV using Chrome and I can have one tab running a news program and another tab running a different news program.  When I switch between tabs, the inactive tab is auto muted.   With Edge, if I have 2 tabs running news programs open at once,  both the active and inactive tab play audio and I have to manually mute the tab to hear one tab, then mute that tab and unmute the other.   I cannot find an extension like that for Edge and I hope someone will write one.

Any suggestions or should I wait and hope for a developer to create that extension?

Good day CharlieWittig@! I am Independent Advisor Paul R. and also a Microsoft/Windows user like you and I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. I understand that you are checking with regards to the unMute extension for MS Edge.

You can install the said extension in Edge by doing the following.

  • From Edge, click on the 3 dots and click on Extensions
  • Under Find new extensions, look for Can't find what you're looking for? You can also get extensions from the Chrome Web Store and click on the underline link at the end that says Chrome Web Store
  • After clicking on it a new tab will open and below the address bar click on Allow extension from other stores and a prompt will pop up and click Allow and this will bring you to the Chrome Extensions webstore
  • Search for the extension (unMute) and click on it and click Add to Chrome and a prompt will pop up to Add "unMute" to Microsoft Edge? and click Add extension and this will install it in MS Edge
  • After doing the above, check and test if it is working in Edge just like how it is working in Chrome

Regards,

Paul R.

Thanks for the quick reply.   I had tried it several weeks ago and it did not work.   I tried removing and reinstalling and it still did not work.   I simply thought that it was incompatible with Edge.

I just now tried it and it worked.   You must have waved your magic wand!

    Thanks again.
