Microsoft-Edge doesn't allow copy-and-paste in HTML tag INPUT...TYPE=DATE boxes. How can I enable copying?

If you make a sample HTML form with the markup "<INPUT ... TYPE=DATE ...>", there is no copy-and-paste from the right-click context menu for that input box. Users understandably like to copy dates from source documents rather than hand-enter them. They can't; not without 3rd party addons. It seems an obvious feature that's strangely missing.
