Disable First Run Page in Microsoft Edge

I want to eliminate the Microsoft First Run page in Edge. I followed the instructions by changing the registry settings found in the Microsoft page "How to Disable the First Run on Microsoft Edge using Registry."

This procedure does not work.

I want to permanently disable the Microsoft first run page. Instead I want "about:blank" or another homepage of my choosing to be the point of access when I open Edge, or open a new page within Edge.

Microsoft Edge | Open the browser | Windows 10

    Hi CCIV-CDXXXI

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Do you mean the Home page in Edge, have you not tried just changing that to your preferred home page?

Click the 3 dots at the top right of Edge and choose Settings, then type home in the settings search box, you should then see Home Button - Set Button URL and be able to set your preferred page for when Edge starts and for the Home button.

If this is not what you are referring to, please provide more information on what you are trying to change, that should not require a registry edit.

Unfortunately, still no success. I followed the steps you gave. I changed the Home button URL to about:blank. Then I closed Edge and re-entered it. However, I am still landing on the Microsoft Edge homepage with all their links, news, and customary landscape photo. Same thing happens when I click on "+" and I add a new page within Edge. Edge takes me straight to another Microsoft page.

Is there a means of accessing Edge without being sent to the Microsoft page?

This is a stubborn problem. I am trying to completely avoid the Microsoft Edge page, giving me the freedom replace it with about:blank, Google. a news site, or other site of my choosing.

    Hi CCIV-CDXXXI

Did you change the startup page in both locations shown below after clicking 'Set Button URL'?

Yes, I had changed both fields shown with arrows. Same result as previously, Edge is opening with Microsoft Edge homepage. I tried again, without success. Then I changed the URL to a different website. Still the same result.

Surely there must be some way to bypass their homepage and designate my own.

    Hi CCIV-CDXXXI

In the Address bar, paste this:

    edge://favorites/

On the Favorites management page, click the 3dots and backup your favorites to a HTML file

Then go back into Edge Settings, select Profiles and delete your current profile

Restart Edge, then try setting your preferred Home page again, and then import your favorites to that new profile.
