Immersive Reader Edge browser !

I noticed today that the "Immersive reader" is back on the Edge browser (unless I haven't noticed it) ! When Windows 10 first came out I seem to think I used this a lot but it was probably called something different ! It then just disappeared ! I asked the question why and was told it may return one day which it has ! The question I am asking is, I used it to read something today and then decided to "Share" with a friend, when he opened my link the page opened just normally "Not Immersive" ! Does that mean this feature only applies to the computer your working on ? It is still I great feature but if you could send in the same way it would be great !! Hope I have explained this OK !

"Share" with a friend,

This may depend on which Share option you choose. When I tried sharing by email, the URL that was included was that of the reading view, with the Edge-specific read:// protocol prefix, like this one:

read://https_www.msn.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.msn.com%2Fen-gb%2Fentertainment%2Ftv%2Fcambridge-union-drops-plans-to-blacklist-speakers-after-john-cleese-pulls-out%2Far-AAQx688%3Focid%3Dmsedgntp

If the recipient has Edge as his default browser, this link should open in the immersive reader. However, there are probably lots of things preventing this from happening. For example, this site won't allow hyperlinks with the read protocol prefix. To visit the green URL from this page, you'd have to select it and then right-click on it and click Go to ...

💡 Use immersive reader when you want to print only the salient bits of a web page, eliminating ads and other intrusions.

Hi Brian,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The Immersive reader is a function of the Edge browser, it cannot be set on a document or web page you are sharing.

You can toggle on/off Immersive reader with the F9 key in Edge, and the person you are sharing the document with would need to use that key to see the file in the Immersive Reader

Hi Dave thanks for that and probably as I thought !

Also they would have to be using the Edge browser correct ? There are so many devices now that people are using, even with Windows 10 they are not all using Edge (shame). I have sent a "Immersive" page to a couple of friends who I know use Edge. Will pass on your information to them for future reference !

    Thanks again

    Brian
