Cannot terminate MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe

When I try to terminate it via Task Manager, "Access is denied".

CMD and taskkill via PID? "Access is denied".

And when I try WMIC:

C:\Users[USERNAME]>wmic process where "name='MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe'" delete

Deleting instance \VT5-21\ROOT\CIMV2:Win32_Process.Handle="4964"

ERROR:

Description = Access denied

I'm tired. I do not want the process running. Is there a way to just kill the process so it doesn't run?

    Hi,

    I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

    It isn't recommended to disable Edge AutoUpdate.

    Nevertheless,

    Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

    Type services.msc

    Press Enter.

    Is Microsoft Edge update service running and set to automatic?
