Launching Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Hi there,
I run Windows 10 21H2
Microsoft Edge always worked without a hitch on my notebook, all of sudden it refuses to launch.
I've rebooted my notebook, repaired the Edge, but it didn't help. I've run Malwarebytes as I always do and it has shown my notebook is clean.
I tried to remove Edge manually to re-install it, but unfortunately Windows doesn't allow to do that.
According to my Windows, my current Edge's version is 105.0.1343.27 and it was installed today on Sep 03, 2022.
So what else can I do to make it work again?
Thanks.
PS. Btw I also happen to have an older version of Microsoft Internet Explorer still installed on my notebook, and it can be launched without any problem and works fine as I've just found.
My Chrome browser and Brave work fine too.

Hi Jimmy,
We released version 105.0.1343.33. Microsoft Edge will automatically update itself, or if you don't want to wait, you can download the offline version at https://www.microsoft.com/edge/business/download.

Go to regedit via Windows key + R and search for MetricsReportingEnabled under Edit -> Search . Delete these 1-2 entries and the Edge will start again.
To find under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge
or.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge

https://betanews.com/2022/09/04/if-microsoft-edge-105-wont-launch-heres-what-you-need-to-do/ That works for me! I already use my Microsoft Egde now without problems, tysm!
This works, Thanks a Lot
I did as advised and removed the key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge.
The key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge wasn't present at all.
Unfortunately, it didn't help. Edge doesn't start yet
According to the below forum, the problem is rampant as many folks have reports the same issue https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/776666/cant-open-microsoft-edge/
I think the last thing that I changed in Edge's settings when it still worked was turning off the background process, which supposedly made it launch faster (but I ain't sure if this could trigger the current problem)
