There is no option to change my web browser default in Choose Default App.  I've gone to HTM and HTML - in default app by file type - Microsoft Edge is listed (greyed background).  It's currently defaulting to "Bing" even though i have the Microsoft Edge Icon.  I want to default to either Edge or Chrome.

Microsoft Edge | Open the browser | Windows 10

Okay thanks, let's try to troubleshoot the problem.

    1. Using Cortana search, type CMD
    2. Right click the Command Prompt App and choose Run as Administrator
    3. On the command prompt, type this command and hit enter:

    sfc /scannow

    1. After the scan, type this command and hit enter:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    1. If the issue is not resolved, try to also re-download both Edge and Chrome:

    >> Microsoft Edge: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

    >> Google Chrome: https://www.google.com/intl/en_in/chrome

    1. If the issue is still present, please verify the latest OS Version and OS Build

    >> Settings > System > About > Windows Specifications

I will be providing the other steps on my next reply in case the above steps did not resolve the problem.

    Sincerely,

Hi and thank you. May I have a screenshot as well showing the grayed Microsoft Edge in the choices?

    Hi Lee,

Thank you for your quick reply,  I did try selecting the reset button as described above.  It put a check mark next to the selection; but still no "web browser" setting is included in the "default App" list in settings.

    Hi NancyM_216,

My name is Lee an Independent Advisor.

I believe I had this same issue before and from what I remember I select "Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults" and it game me a chance to now change the web default browser. The option "Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults" is located at the bottom if you will scroll down a bit from the Default apps settings.

If my suggestion is not helpful, you may always send me a reply and I will respond back as quickly as I can. Thank you and have a nice day!

    Sincerely,

    Lee | Independent Advisor
