Download failed

Question

When I try to download something on microsoft edge, it would say virus scan failed and then I couldn't install the app, how can I fix it?

Just to check, what is the file that you are trying to download and is this happening on a different browser?

Have you tried turning off the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen and see how it goes?

To turn off MS Defender SmartScreen, click on the 3 dots in MS Edge and then click on Settings and under Privacy, search and services look for Security and toggle the slider for Microsoft Defender SmartScreen to off and try the download again.

How do I stop Microsoft edge from blocking downloads?

To disable SmartScreen using this method, do the following:

1. Open Windows Defender Security Center.
2. Click on App & browser control tab in the left pane.
