Disabling edge settings button.

I would like to make it so that the 3 dots button in the top right of edge are disabled. I am setting up a workstation that needs to be able to access the internet but it will be unattended so i want to make sure no settings can be viewed or changed. I already setup all the settings with group policy. I just dont want them to mess around in the settings menu at all.

More info.

I cant use kiosk mode. I use it for other machines but it really doesn't like to be used on domain. (If this could be fixed that would be even better)

The device is locked down but edge settings allows users to open file explorer which it not ideal. Removing that button would be best. I am happy to delete system files to get rid of it if needed.

I do not know what the surroundings are but the features you want to use is kiosk mode. Other than that it will be hard to implement a proper security for open use by potentially malicious users.

I really wanted to use kiosk mode, i have kiosk mode setup for a non domain public browser and it works great.

This is a SharePoint browser, kiosk mode launches in private so SharePoint logins down work. Also the kiosk user cannot be a domain user, this was the next best option.

If there is a way to make the kiosk user a domain user without it launching inprivate that would literally make my week

Im afraid hiding menu buttons is not a security concept and therefor this is not an available feature anyone implemented ever.

I suppose you snapshot the machine once fully configured and simply revert to the snapshot if someone messes with it. Could even do this remotely and automatically.

Yes but then they could just hit f11 to get it back out of full screen. Or press Alt+e to open it.

    Hello David,

thank you for providing this question.

I am a seasoned Windows expert with almost a decade in usage and support experience and hope to resolve your problems quickly.

I know of no way to achieve this but if you press F11 you will enter fullscreen mode and it wont be visible anymore...

Also check Edge Group Policy documentation:

    docs.microsoft.com/deployedge/microsoft-edge-policies#additional

If you consider your problem solved it would be very good if you marked the answer which helped you so others can find and use this thread.

If this didn't solve your problem or you need further assistance please answer in this thread and i would be happy to help.

    kind regards

    F. Grobusch
