Failed MS Edge update install

Anonymous

My attempts to  install the latest MS Edge have now failed 5 times.

It continually tells me to install updates and restart my device.

My laptop is completely up to date with updates! I check every day!

Please tell me what I am doing wrong because the update process is hopeless!

If this is supposed to drag me away from Google Chrome it is not working!

Thank you!

Immediate problem with Edge, it doesn't support Javascript, so my Google account is non operational.

    That is a deal buster!

    Cheers, Chris

I agree.  I don't mind a good troubleshoot now and then; but continuous, endless solutions to a situation that everyone seems to have are both frustrating and pointless.  No one who uses this product should have to worry about updates, version numbers, build numbers and the day these patches arrive that can potentially destroy an otherwise operational system.

Thanks for your reply.  I'm using Linux today so I can get the rest of my work done.  Be well and safe

Microsoft Edge and Microsoft support are a total waste of time. Why spend valuable time on a product that is not supported by it's creator. No wonder Google Chrome rules the internt!

Javascript is enabled by default and Edge supports it. There is no browser in the world which won't support JS at this time :)

Have you checked these settings, specifically Java Script?

Thanks Chris. The answer lies in the OS build itself which is 17758, which is an Insider build. The public release was 17763 for 1809. For 1903/1909, the build was 18362/18363.

I guess the build is expiring soon as well.

Update to the latest release 1909 which would make your PC upto date and you would be able to install Edge.

Try updating to 1909 using Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.
