Watching TV programs on CBS.COM

Following similar question from 2010. I was watching several TV programs on CBS.COM with HP ENVY Windows 10. After the first of 2020, I started getting errors 3004 and 1001 on a fuzzy screen. After some research I learned to disable ad blocker and this allowed me to watch a few programs over a few days. Now I don't get the error message, the first commercial plays but stops at 28 029 seconds of the 30 second commercial. Thus the program never starts, just sits there. I've tried to find an answer but so far nothing. I passed the problem along to CBS.COM and asked if this meant I had to have CBS.COM ALL ACCESS. They assured me that was not the case but offered no fix. Thanks for any help.

    Hi Joel,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing issues while streaming through CBS.com. I certainly appreciate your efforts on checking with the website support and ad-blocker settings. We will certainly look into this for you.

    Please let us know:

    • Do you face this issue only with this particular website?
    • Have you tried using an alternate browser such as Internet Explorer to check if the issue persists there?
    • Do you have any antivirus applications installed that support ad-blocker?
    • What is the version of Microsoft Edge that is currently installed on your computer?

Meanwhile, we can try a few steps and check.

    Method 1: Clear Browsing Data.

I would suggest you to Clear browsing history and cached data.

Open Microsoft Edge, click on Ellipses(…), select Settings> History  > Clear browsing data. Select All time under Time range; select Browsing history and Cached images and files, and then select Clear now.

Once done, restart Microsoft Edge and try accessing the website.

Method 2: Check Adobe Flash settings in Edge

Based on your description, I assume that you have already turned off Ads settings in Edge. You may also want to check the permissions for Adobe Flash.

Open Microsoft Edge, click on Ellipses(…), select Settings>Site Permissions>Adobe Flash>Enable the settings and Allow CBS.com website.

    Method 3: Disable Hardware Acceleration

Open Microsoft Edge, click on Ellipses(…), select Settings>System>Turn off “Use hardware acceleration when available

    Restart Edge and check.

If you are facing the same issue with other browsers, then this might be a website preference than a browser preference. However, please keep us posted.

We will continue to assist you.
