Issue with Microsoft Edge when enabling Microsoft Defender Application Guard

Hello,

I did a clean Windows 10 pro 64 bit install version 20H2 OS 19042.746 with Windows Pack Experience 120.2212.551.0.

I enabled Microsoft Defender Application Guard, but Microsoft Edge will not open its windows anymore. The windows sit at the taskbar. I can see them, I can hover my mouse over each window and the preview displays. But when I double click on Edge in the taskbar, the window will not open, will not go full screen. I can right click and close the Edge windows which are always minimized in the taskbar.

I had to disable Microsoft Defender Application Guard in order to be able to post this ticket.

I wonder if there anybody can help me fix this as we want Edge always running with Microsoft Defender Application guard.

Any advice is welcome. :)

Thank you for your feedback about Microsoft Defender Application Guard for Edge (MDAG Edge)!

Sorry to hear about this problem you're experiencing. In order for us to investigate further, can you please re-enable MDAG on your machine and then file a new feedback in the Feedback Hub app? Use https://aka.ms/mdagedge-fb to open Feedback Hub with the MDAG Edge pre-selected, then follow these steps to collect traces for us during your feedback submission:.

    1. Once you get to the Add more details section of your new feedback submission, click "Recreate my problem".
    2. Make sure to include data about "Microsoft Defender Application Guard - Edge".
    3. Close any open MDAG Edge windows and error dialogs.
    4. Click "Start recording", and wait until the box turns red and says "Stop recording".
    5. Reproduce the issue fully by launching an MDAG Edge window and trying to make it visible on your screen.
    6. Click "Stop recording".

Hello. Thank you for your replies. I have the last Microsoft Edge version installed on my PC.

@ru herath, thanks, I had rebooted the PC several times, the issue will not go away. I turned off Microsoft Application Guard and everything went back to normal. Today I enabled again Microsoft Application Guard and files on my Desktop disappear. But, the issue described in this post is solved, I can open the Microsoft Edge windwos and use it without issues.

For the issue with the disappearing files in Windows desktop, I opened another post here Bug Microsoft Defender Application Guard

My name is Ru. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

Have you restarted your PC since the issue started? There shouldn't be an issue with Microsoft Edge running alongside MDAG.

We can try a few troubleshooting methods here.

Make sure Microsoft Edge is up to date

Select Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge. If there is an update available, you can apply it from here.

Make sure the Microsoft Defender Application guard is up to date as well.

Modify Microsoft Edge by going to Settings > Apps > Apps and features > Microsoft Edge > Modify
