I had multiple tabs open for my research paper and I was in the middle of taking a test when edge decided to update without warning. The research that I compiled for paper gone. Thank goodness I was able to log back into my test and pick up where I left off and it didn't mark the problem wrong. I did not request the update nor did the computer make me aware edge was going to updated. I am completely erked because I now I have to start my research over. How do I stop edge from going this? Furthermore, why doesn't edge update when micorsoft updates? I have those scheduled.

Hi, but that's not true. The browser didn't crash. I was in the middle of working, the screen flashed and bam the next message in my browser was that edge had updated. Again, why can't edge update when microsoft updates. Why is it separate and how do I control when it does? M computer is not the issue. My issue is with the edge application. Thanks for the response.
Hi Mrs,
I am Sumit, here to assist you with this question.
No, Edge does not reboot to install updates. It updates only when the browser is closed manually, or the computer is shut down.
Sure the browser did not crash instead, which triggered the update?
