Installing or updating Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
My computer is infected by freecapture.top which keeps displaying popups telling me that I am infected by all kinds of things. The popups look like macafee or norton websites, but they all mention Edge. I tey to ignore tham but they comandeer a big chunk of real estate for minutes at a time.
I wanted to delete Edge and reinstall, but the only option is to repair. I have tried that to no avail.
Can I overwrite windows to lose the infection?
Tony

Dear toneV8,in this case I recommend that you try the following;
Open Edge and click (...) in the upper right corner of the screen to access Settings;
Click Cookies and site permissions in the menu on the left of the screen;
Click on Notifications;
Look for Freecaptcha.top in the list under Allow, click on it and select Delete;
Check that notifications still appear on the system;
Hope this helps, see you soon!
Eric

Hello toneV8, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;
Do you have Norton or McAfee installed as an antivirus?
It would be nice if you could provide a screenshot showing the popups;
See you soon!
