Hello,
I was reading a PDF file in Microsoft Edge just now and since it was for a class, I was highlighting, making comments, writing thoughts, etc. Out of nowhere I got a message saying something went wrong with the file and all of my work (over 3 hours of it) was completely gone. I need to figure out a way to recover those edits if possible.

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover them unless if you have saved them earlier.
It is recommended to save your work once a while as Microsoft doesn't have Auto-save feature like Microsoft Office.
I would recommend you open Microsoft Edge and click on top right corner and click on ...->Help and feedback->Send feedback and share your issue and purpose autosave feature.
