Why is Microsoft Edge not syncing my passwords anymore?

About a week ago, I had noticed that Microsoft Edge wasn't syncing my passwords with my other devices and on my Microsoft Authenticator. I had also noticed that Edge had also replaced my passwords with random strings of numbers and letters; so, I went ahead and went through and saved them to my iCloud Keychain and deleted the passwords from all my devices I had Edge on: My PC, Surface, iPhone, and Xbox.

I went through the process of signing out of Edge on all my devices and performed a sync reset though my Microsoft account, then went through re-saving all my passwords. All looked good and synced, but a week later, my passwords stopped syncing. Everything syncs but my passwords.

This is what the edge://sync-internals page read:

The full passwords message says "Error: PasswordSyncBridge@components\password_manager\core\browser\sync\password_sync_bridge.cc:269, datatype error was encountered: Password metadata store isn't available."

Just wondering if there's something wrong on my end or Microsoft's end.

Any help is appreciated!

    Hello ,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

I have checked in multiple accounts that this synchronization feature works correctly and from the error messages it seems that the problem is most likely an anomaly in the relevant file in the browser client configuration file. You can try the following steps:

    1. Repair the Microsoft Edge browser

"Win" logo key + "I" open Windows Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair*.*

    2. Clear sync data

Click “Disable Sync (Clear Data)” on the edge://sync-internals page. The location of this button may change due to the page layout, so please look for it carefully and check.

    _

    3. Optimize network connection

It is also not ruled out that it is due to network issues, you can optimize your connection to Microsoft servers by following the steps below. "Win" logo key + "Q" to open the search box, type 'ncpa.cpl', press Enter to open the "Network Connections" window, select your network adapter, right-click it > "Properties", double-click "Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IP)", then check “Use the following DNS server address", and*****type* "4.2.2.1" in "Preferred DNS server", and type "4.2.2.2" in "Alternate DNS server", then press OK*.*

If your other network applications fail to work properly (unable to load or slow connection) due to the above changes, you can set it to "Obtain DNS server address automatically" after the problem is fixed.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
