Troubleshooting website display or functionality issues in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Dear Microsoft
Since I downloaded Microsoft Edge, I have not been able to do ANY searches on my google or google chrome search engine, and if I change the browser, your software changes it back. I use the browser for Google because I have an older computer, that I have been unable to update to windows 11, and at this time I do not have the money to upgrade or to purchase a new computer. Please help me get this fixed. I hate Microsoft edge, I do not use Bing because it answers my questions with 25 more questions or answers that don't answer my query.
Thank you,
Billie Small

Hi, Billie Small
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Normally, Edge will not manually change the user's default browser, except for some Edge-specific protocols that must be opened with Edge (for example, the protocol used by the Windows search bar is MS-EDGE and only allows Edge to be used). Please run CMD as an administrator (Win+R, input CMD, then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter) and enter net user test /add to create a new local account. Then, enter that account and go to Settings -> Apps -> Default Apps -> Set Default by apps. Search for Edge and change all that can be changed to Chrome. After that, open Chrome to see if you can use Chrome search normally.
