Custom Built PC Device adding issues

I just bought the xbox ultimate pass in the hopes that I could have more games to play on my pc. However, it refuses to allow me to install because my PC is not registered as a device on Microsoft. When I attempt to add the device it requests a serial number which I can not provide because it is a custom build. Although I am already logged in to the Microsoft store and the Microsoft website on the same PC it still does not recognize the device. I have Windows 10 up to date and everything works well except for this internal issue. Anybody have any ideas?
