How do I get Microsoft Office 365 to stop receiving messages from my AOL Account?

I recently added my AOL account email that I have literally had since the early 1990s and Outlook is receiving messages - currently on 6192 of over 80000. I keep clicking on that box and cancelling the task. I have all the messages thus far going back like 5 years - I don't need anything older than that. How do I tell Outlook to stop the synch, the task of receiving messages on this account that are older than say 2 years or like - okay I have enough I'm DONE - no more! If the counter is accurate these old messages are going to take up 4GB of space.

I still want to have the email account active and receiving new messages in Outlook. I don't want it to keep downloading the old outdated ones.

    Hi @RMPinAZ ,
We understand that you would like to configure your AOL account in Outlook and only would like it download the recent messages, is it right? If so, what's the type of your AOL account that you configured in your Outlook(POP, IMAP)?

As I know, if you configure it with IMAP, we actually could set the "Mail to keep offiline" in account setting like below(File>Account settings>Account settings>choose your account>drag the line to set a short time>restart your client)

Hope that would be helpful to you.
