Playready DRM not working on Edge

Question

Hi,

I can't manage to get media using in Playready SL3000 DRM to play on Edge, which prevents me to view content in 1080p on the streaming service that I use.

When I go to edge://media-internals, it shows that Hardware Secure has "No Capability".

On this page however ( PlayReady Test Server (microsoft.com) ), it seems to show that it is compatible:

My configuration is :

Windows 11 Pro - 23H2 - 22631.4169
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400 CPU
Geforce GTX 960 - Pilote Geforce Game Ready 613.09
Edge Version 128.0.2739.79 (Version officielle) (64 bits)

Is there a way to know where is the blocking point?

I got it working! Not directly on Edge, but on the Microsoft Store app from my streaming service.

I checked the compatibility of my monitors as you said, using a laptop which I know is working. Using HDMI output from my motherboard, it's working on this app.

I don't really know why it's not working in Edge, but anyway the problem is solved for me.

Hi Tchuup,
If you switch to using Intel integrated graphics, you need to check if the motherboard’s HDMI output supports HDCP 2.2. Additionally, not all computer monitors’ HDMI inputs support HDCP 2.2. Both the output and input need to support HDCP 2.2 for PlayReady SL3000 to function properly. Generally, 4K TVs manufactured in recent years support HDCP 2.2, so you might want to try connecting to a 4K TV instead of your current computer monitor for testing.

Oh, thanks for the information! I did not find the clear hardware requirement.

Additional question, I tried switching Edge to the Integrated Graphics from CPU (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400) as a workaround. It now shows compatibility, but unfortunately still no luck with Playready in the player:

As an example, this test player does not work with SL3000. DASH Player (dashjs) (hbbtv.org)

The log below says that "playready:com.microsoft.playready.recommendation.3000" is supported :

Hi Tchuup,

You need a GeForce GTX 1050 3GB or newer to properly support PlayReady 3.0 hardware security.
