Microsoft-Edge protocol default issues

So I am trying to set the Microsoft-edge protocol in default apps, the issue is that when I try to select it it says that I need to install it from the microsoft store, when it opens up microsoft store it then says that edge is already installed but then I still can't set the default on this protocol to anything. The user profile that I am doing this for was migrated over, seems like that is relevant because from my admin profile on the same computer there is no issue at all edge is already set as the default there.

Any ideas?

    Hello,

Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting to the community.

Based on the description, it seems that your user profile may have been corrupted.

Before providing further solutions, please try using a clean profile by creating a new local administrator account, and see whether the issue persists.

To do so, right-click Start->Terminal/PowerShell/Command prompt (Admin), and enter the following commands:

    net user /add user1 pass1

    net localgroup administrators user1 /add

(Substitute "user1" and "pass1" with the username and password of the new user.)

After creating the user, please press Windows+L to return to the login screen. Select the new user in the bottom-left, and log in. See whether the same issue happens.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Best Regards,
