    Hi AxelGuzman

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I understand that you seem to be experiencing the error code result_code_killed_bad_message in the Edge browser. I understand very well how you feel!

Typically, the error code RESULT_CODE_KILLED_BAD_MESSAGE is associated with communication exceptions between browser processes. Here are some common possible causes of similar problems.

    1. Third-party extensions (especially ad-blocking, developer tools classes) may send unusual commands that cause the process to crash.
    2. Temporary files or abnormal user configuration data may corrupt inter-process communication.
    3. Browser/system version is too old, Windows 11 cumulative update or Edge not upgraded in time may cause compatibility issues.
    4. Certain antivirus software or malicious programs may inject into the Edge process and cause an exception.

    And so on.

I will give you some suggestions and options to hopefully solve your problem or find out what is causing it! However, as this is a first reply with little information and the problem needs to be investigated in different ways, please understand and provide more information (pictures would be great!) in your reply. Thank you very much!

Option 1: Let's try opening the site in privacy mode to see if the same problem occurs.

Private mode does not use any caches or cookies or extensions and minimizes the possibility of cache corruption or extension interference causing problems.

Open Edge browser -> click “...” button in the top right corner -> “New InPrivate window”

Option 2: If you find that the problem disappears in Privacy Mode, it means that the problem is caused by cache and cookie corruption or extension interference.

    1. We tried disabling all extensions to see if the problem persists.

Open Edge browser -> click “...” in the top right corner. button -> “Extensions” -> switch off all extensions.

Please note: Assuming that the problem disappears after turning off all extensions, we can gradually turn on extensions to find the culprit that is causing the problem.

Once found, you can manually uninstall the suspicious extension.

    1. We can also try to clear all cache and cookies.

Open Edge browser -> Click on the “...” button in the top right corner -> Select “Settings” -> Select “Cookies and site permissions” in the left sidebar -> select “Settings” -> select “Cookies and site permissions” on the left sidebar -> "Manage and delete cookies and site data" -> "See all cookies and site data" -> “Remove all“

Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix website issues. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.

    1. We have tried to restore the browser to its default settings to avoid, as much as possible, the effects of certain settings in the browser that cause problems.

Go through the previous steps and open the settings in Edge browser -> select “Reset settings” in the left sidebar -> “Restore settings to their default values”.

Option 3: If you have recently received an update push, we can try updating your Edge browser and Windows 11 system.

Some fixes may be included in some update patches.

    1. Let's try updating Edge browser first.

Visit edge://settings/help -> Automatically trigger version check -> Install the latest version.

    1. Update Windows 11.

Win + I -> Windows Update -> Check and install all optional updates (especially cumulative updates).

Option 4: Start Edge in pure mode.

Right click on Edge icon -> Properties -> add “--disable-extensions --no-sandbox” at the end of the target field.

Please note: Note the spaces before and after.

If it works fine after startup, the problem is with the extension or sandboxing mechanism conflict.

Option 5: Please try to clean boot your computer.

Since clean boot uses only a limited set of files and drivers, it can help us to effectively troubleshoot the possibility of problems caused by third-party applications, driver conflicts, etc.

You can refer to Clean Boot for more information: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

After clean boot, please slide down the webpage after opening the link and find “How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot” This is a dichotomy that helps us pinpoint the service that is causing the problem and disable it.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem. These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

Option 6: We temporarily disable all types of firewalls and third-party anti-virus software on the computer.

Especially third-party antivirus programs, some policies built into firewalls and third-party antivirus programs may prevent us from using Edge browser normally.

Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off antivirus protection. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.

Option 7: We tried creating a new user account profile in Edge browser to see if the problem still exists.

Open Edge -> click on your avatar -> select “Set up new personal profile”.

Try to use the Edge browser with the new profile and see if the problem persists. If the problem disappears, the original user profile is corrupted.

Option 8: There may be some system files that are corrupted or missing that prevent the Edge browser from working properly.

At this point we can try to repair the system completely in two ways to at least ensure that the problem is not due to system corruption.

    1. Scan and repair the system from the command line.

Click “Windows Logo Key” to open the search bar -> Type “cmd” in the search bar and open it with administrator privileges -> Please enter the following commands

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    SFC /Scannow

Please note: The above commands need to be repeated 5~6 times to ensure the completeness of the scan!

    1. Please try the non-destructive repair.

    The steps are:

    (1) First download the ISO image file of Windows 11 via the following link.

The link is: Download Windows 11

    (2) After the ISO file is downloaded, double-click it to open and run “setup.exe”.

    (3) Under the “Install Windows 11” screen, select “Change how the installer downloads updates”.

    (4) Under the “Get Updates, Drivers, and Optional Features” screen, select “Not Now”.

    (5) Follow the instructions to continue.

Please note: If you are prompted to enter a key, the downloaded ISO image file does not match the current system version.

    (6) Under the “Select what to keep” screen, please make sure to select “Keep personal files and applications” so that the contents of your computer will not be affected or lost.

    (7) Start the non-destructive repair.

    1. If the problem persists, try overriding the installation with the Microsoft Edge offline installer.

Beyond that, assuming the question remains, there are a few questions I'd like to confirm with you in my first response so that I can get a more in-depth understanding of your situation.

    1. Is the crash always triggered when visiting a specific website or using a certain feature?
    2. Can you tell me the exact steps of the crash (e.g. clicking on a bookmark, playing a video, etc.)?
    3. Have you installed any system patches or new hardware drivers recently?
    4. Do you use VPN or proxy software?
    5. Can you describe your problem in more detail if it is convenient for you?

I sincerely hope that the above information and programs will help you! Please feel free to contact me (Photos related to the question would be great!).

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Best Regards
