Before the latest update only the selected tab was highlighted. How do I go back to that? Not the update but the highlighting only. I want only the selected tab to be highlighted.

    Hello ,

Good to see you in Microsoft Community.

Firstly, could you let me know the specific version info of the system and the Microsoft Edge browser? Please check it and only send the relevant information without PII in the next reply.

    • System version Win +R key, and type "winver", press Enter.
    • Microsoft Edge browser version Type "edge://settings/help" in the Edge address bar and press Enter*.*

I have confirmed the tab behavior in the latest version of the Microsoft Edge browser (Version 118.0.2088.46 (Official build) (64-bit) ). When you select two tabs, the one that is selected is highlighted, and the unselected one appears slightly dimmed.

    _

So the exception you're currently experienced may not be caused by the latest update, you can follow the steps below:

    1. Or you may try the InPrivate mode of the Microsoft Edge browser's (Ctrl + Shift + N for shortcut). _
    2. Or you can Repair the Microsoft Edge browser*.* "Win" logo key + "I" open Windows Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair*.*

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Windows version: 22H2 Build 22621.2428

Edge version: Version 118.0.2088.46 (Official build) (64-bit)

So I just tried the repair method, and the highlights are slightly dimmer now. I want it like the older version where only the selected tab was highlighted.

Is there any improvement in InPrivate mode?

Also, perhaps you've enabled the new look and feel of Microsoft Edge, you can adjust this option in the settings menu of the Microsoft Edge browser as shown in the image below.

The private window works but it deletes all browser data, The appearance settings are as you have up there on the screenshot.

Microsoft Edge browser's InPrivate mode excludes your personalized settings, browser extensions, and doesn't contain any of your personal data.

If everything appears normal in InPrivate mode, it indicates that your current issue is likely caused by a browser extension or your personalized settings. You can adjust your display settings in the regular mode (exit InPrivate mode) and then see if there's any improvement. For example, using the default theme, disabling the display of relevant browser plug-ins, etc.
