Web Select Tool Not Available

I am continuously searching for any version of Microsoft Edge which have the web select tool. I was using normal Microsoft Edge, but the web select tool (CTRL Shift X) was not available in that.

Then I installed the Edge Beta version and saw that the web select tool was available in that, but when I closed and again opened Edge Beta the web select tool was not available

Then I tried the Edge DEV version. Again like in the case of Edge Beta, the web select tool was available in Edge DEV, but when I closed and again opened Edge DEV, the web select tool was not available there.

Then I tried the Edge CAN version. Again like in the case of Edge Beta and DEV, the web select tool was available in Edge CAN, but when I closed and again opened Edge CAN, the web select tool was not available there.

I have tried the CTRL Shift X shortcut key of the web select tool but nothing happens

I also have tried to go to settings and find the web select tool but it's also not showing in appearance

I also have submitted feedback many times but no solution has been given

I have checked in settings appearances that maybe be web select tool is available there so I can show it up in the upper bar of the browser but the web select tool is not showing in settings either. I have tried to reset browser settings also, but still issue not solved

I have searched in the web capture feature, but the web select tool is not present there also

I am using Windows 11, I have also used Windows 10 but this issue was not occurring in Windows 10, it's happening with me in Windows 11 only. I want to keep using Windows 11.

I don't know what's the reason behind it. Please help me, I shall be thankful to you

To re-enable the feature:

1.- Go to your desktop icons and look for the edge shortcut.

2.- Right click on properties and in the "target" section, after msedge.exe" add a blank space and then paste this:

--enable-features=msEdgeAreaSelect

3.- Apply and accept, then restart your pc preferably to apply the changes.

This has worked for me so far, but Microsoft will probably definitely remove this feature in the future.

As I check on this further, the feature seems to be removed intentionally and they might be replacing it with a new one. However, that wasn't confirmed yet.

Here's an article I found and the steps that might work to get back the Web Select.

Can you check if Web Select would appear on another Edge profile without a Microsoft account signed in?

Hi Maqsood, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

Can you press Ctrl + Shift + S? That's an alternative hotkey for Web Select.

I've seen similar reports about this so I would like to know, what version/build of Windows 11 do you have and the version you currently have in Edge? Also, are you in Windows 11 Insider program?
