Somehow Cannot Customise My Background Image

Context: For SOME reason, my New tab background shows the plain, default background — the one you often see when you have no internet — even if I'm connected to the internet the next time I open Edge again.

I've checked the New Tab and Browser settings—the 'Appearance' section, to be exact—for anything that would change the background image of the new tab. However, not only did I find no settings on the New Tab settings, but the Browser settings only showed features to change the colour scheme/theme of the browser.

I've also tried the 'Discover more themes' in the theme section of 'Customise Appearance', presumably having a New Tab background, and the colour scheme changed but not the New Tab background.

(Also, I tried to elaborate with screenshots but, for some reason, I couldn't insert or upload any.)

Can someone help?

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    According to your description, the background image of your edge browser is not saved normally, and you have maintained an Internet connection.

    My friend, I suggest you check your favorites and other edge saved memories to see if they are still there.

    When you open your edge browser after connecting to the Internet, will it automatically load your personalized background?

    Is your onedrive saved normally? Some Windows settings will be saved in the cloud onedrive.

    And try to create a new local administrator account to see if this situation will occur under the new account:

    Other players in the community have similar problems. We will also help you to see if this is a known problem, and suggest players with similar problems to leave a message and feedback to Microsoft.
