I was trying to download VMware Workstation Pro 17.5.2, but after downloading it and opening the file to install the application, an error for Microsoft Visual C++ appeared. I am using Microsoft Windows 11 and the device model is an HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0xxx.

    Hello, Joseph Gentile

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I have carefully read the information and problem description you provided. You mentioned that you had problems when you installed VMware Workstation, and the error message showed that you were missing some visual C++ components.

I understand the problem caused to you. According to the problem pictures you provided, it seems that you need to install the missing visual C++ components. I suggest that you can click the link below to download the latest visual C++ component package. After completing the installation, please test whether the problem still exists.

If the problem persists after installing the component package, you can also try to upgrade in place. The principle of upgrading in place is to retain the original system and user data, only overwrite the system files, and thus restore the normal use of the system. The detailed steps are as follows.

Visit the official Microsoft website, Download Windows 11

Use the installation tool to create a USB installation disk or ISO file.

Insert the USB installation disk or mount the ISO file, and then run setup.exe.

Select the "Upgrade this PC" option and click "Next".

Make sure the "Keep personal files and apps" option is selected and click "Install".

The process may take some time, please be patient.

Disclaimer: Let's try to perform an in-place upgrade, which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without deleting files or applications. But if you have important data on the computer, we still recommend backing it up in advance.

    Best regards
