Managing bookmarks, browsing history, and downloads in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I have defined some Collections in Edge so I can open several web pages together. When I do this, the Collection name appears in a coloured block to the left of the tabs.
If I then exit from Edge and reopen the browser, this name block is still there. This isn't a bad thing as such, because I can click on the block and open my Collection pages in a single action.
However, if I close one or more of the Collections pages before exiting, when I reopen Edge, clicking the name block only opens the pages I had open before - not the entire Collection. This seems to be a legacy thing because the name block refers to a "tab group" even though it carried the Collection name.
I could manually close the pages from this name block before exiting, but that's a faff, and ideally one of two things would happen:
(a) exiting Edge closes all pages and removes the name block
(b) exiting Edge closes all pages, retains the name block but restores the entire Collection to the block
I can't find any settings for this!

the option is available here :edge://settings/startHomeNTP
Thanks, Jaspreet. You mention "The only option available is for the customization of what opens when you start edge which by default opens collections minus the tabs you manually closed". Is there a setting for this? I have Edge set to open the new tab page when it starts, and that is set by an extension to load my preferred search page.
I'll certainly send feedback!
Hello Mizu,
I am Jaspreet Singh.
Edge as of now does not have the setting option for such feature control. The only option available is for the customization of what opens when you start edge which by default opens collections minus the tabs you manually closed (even if you select to open just the home page)
I agree there should be an option for more control over these settings and I would recommend sending a feedback to the developing team using the feedback hub by pressing alt + shift + I keys together when in edge.
