Managing bookmarks, browsing history, and downloads in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I've only started using Edge more regularly for the past few weeks, but the way it is going, it may just force me to go back to Firefox.
I really think it's a very good browser BUT....
Settings just seem to not remain where I set them.
Just now I accidentally closed the browser. And I thought, well no big deal, it's a good thing I"ve changed the settings for it to open the previous session.
But it didn't. It has reverted back to opening up a blank home page. And this is now the second time it has happened. And I have never touched anything like "go back to defaults".
The other thing that is happening is actually more annoying.
I've set up 12 shortcuts on the homepage (actually more because there was such a small limit and I added the Favorites Bar).
I pin all the shortcuts. But for reasons unknown, shortcuts have disappeared, or unpinned, or their names change (to their URL, or even recently just a page I visted became a shortcut and I didn't do anything to add it.
This too has happened more than once. At least three times over the past three weeks I've been using the browser.

From what I can understand, you're having me go down a winding meandering alley to do what I have already done. Although I admit I have completely ignored "Sync" (because I don't want to use it, nor do I have any devices I want to sync with, my "Sync" is already on. When I click the profile icon that you instruct me to do, it says "Sync is on".
So from what I can understand you saying, there should not be any changes going on in the shortcuts IF the sync is turned on.
It is on. It has been on.
Hello Googlieguy, welcome to the Microsoft Community!
According to your feedback, you are experiencing an issue with some settings being restored in edge
First of all, the shortcuts being deleted could be an account synchronization issue.
The shortcuts usually follow your account.
So you can check if your edge account is still logged in.
In addition to that, you can reconfigure your configuration file.
Here is how to add a different profile in Microsoft Edge:
Navigate to the top right corner of your browser window and select the icon that represents your current profile. It may look like a blank silhouette, a letter, or a custom image you've added. Selecting this icon will open a drop-down menu.
Select Manage profile settings. At the top of the drop-down menu, select the gear icon, which will open a new profile settings tab.
Select Add profile.
Select Add . A new tab opens with options to synchronize your data or create a new profile without data.
Sign in to synchronize your data and connect to an existing account.
Select Continue.
Toggle Sign in synchronization to Yes .
Select Confirm .
Then see if this resolves your issue!
I hope you find the above information helpful, please let me know if there is any progress and I look forward to hearing from you!
